Are Your Body Care Products Toxic?

Toxic body products

If you care about what you eat then you should care about what you put on your body. They both have an impact on your health. Are your body care products toxic? I taught a class (Herbs for body care) this week to 24 amazing women at Stratford Ecological Center, who brought in their lotions, sunscreen, toothpaste, shampoo, lipstick and more. We looked at the ingredients using an app to see if they were toxic or clean.

Your skin is your largest organ so make sure you take care of it. Find a product that doesn’t have cancer causing ingredients -You could try going all-natural by looking into the cbd + skincare options on the market, as one example. Things like formaldehyde, SLS, synthetic fragrances and preservatives. Face masks are increasingly popular but most of them are more damaging on the skin. Try looking for a face mask that is rich in vitamins and minerals, just like the firm + balance mineral mask. You want the best for your skin, especially when it’s on your face. There is no point in using cheaply made masks, only to damage the skin. Also, I personally don’t what to use products that were tested on animals.

The app that I used was Think Dirty. This app is incredible! You can download the app to your phone. It comes up with a bar that says scan products, push the bar and you are ready to scan the bar on your product. The app will then rate the product from 1 to 10. I being the cleanest and 10 being the most toxic. If you go to ingredients they will show you all the ingredients and rate each one separately if you click on the ingredient it will tell you why they rated it with the number that they did. Amazing!
