Working in V’s working out
We are constantly being told that we should be working out on a regular basis in order to stay healthy.
The general idea behind this advice is correct. The human body requires regular and consistent movement in order to maintain muscle mass, cardiovascular health, joint health, reduce the likelihood of injury, aid the return of venous blood and lymph, maintenance of a healthy body weight, reduce the likelihood of serious health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer and many other crucial health benefits.
However, there are times when working out can do more harm than good. When you work out, you use energy and vital nutrients. This can be problematic when you already have very low energy and/or nutrient levels.
When you are under excessive levels of stress, you’re going to have low energy or low nutrient levels.
Below are the 6 main types of stressors:
We are exposed to each of these stressors every day and they are all crucial to our physical, mental and emotional health. The problem begins when we are exposed to too much or the wrong type of stress. The diagram also shows that we have Control Systems that help to rebalance the body in order to keep our bodies in balance, which is known as homeostasis.
These control systems include:
- Limbic / Emotional
- Other sub-systems
If these systems are unable to manage the stressors, they become unbalanced, and this is when injury and disease occur if not corrected.
Exercise is physical stress, so if you are already overly stressed, working out is just going to add more stress and uses up more vital nutrients.
If your body is in homeostasis, then you can work out and reap the benefits. Your body will respond by improving the systems you were training during the workout as long as you take on adequate nutrients and get optimum rest and sleep.
If your levels of stress are high, then Work-In exercises will help.
The 4 Doctors Within You
Your best natural guides to getting healthy and staying healthy
The idea is that many of us have lost touch with the best natural resource we have to manage our health and the stresses of daily life. That resource is the wisdom of knowing our own body.
The Four Doctors are, in effect, four expert voices within us that continually tell us what we need to know and do to manage or eliminate stress. We just need to learn to listen to them.
The Four Doctors are Dr. Diet, Dr. Quiet, Dr. Happiness and Dr. Movement, they help us get back to a healthier body and life. If we disregard these doctors, all the fancy pills, diets and exercise fads in the world won’t work well. If you follow the advice of all four of these doctors, you will have much less need for a doctor in a white coat. Join us to learn more about each doctor.
Learn about the four Doctors and how you can feel and look good at any age.
5 elements Personality Types
The Five Elements begins with five simple but profound theories about, not only the personalities and rhythms of people, but also the architecture and vibration of buildings, the culture, and heritage of countries, the demeanor and personalities of animals, and even the political climates and attitudes of certain eras.
The system of the Five Elements began with the development of acupuncture; a healing practice that grew out of a 4,000-5,000-year-old Asian medical system. In “The Inner Cannon,” a 2,000-year-old medical text, Chinese physicians and scholars theorized that the universe is composed of forces that included Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal, the five elements. They proposed that human behavior, emotions, and health are also influenced by these elements. If we understand these elements, we can use them to stay in balance physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally—or to return to balance after unhealthy living, illness, stress, or other disturbances.
TCM – Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qi Gong
Qigong can be described as a mind-body-spirit practice that improves one’s mental and physical health by integrating posture, movement, breathing technique, self-massage, sound, and focused intent.
The health benefits from Qigong and Tai Chi comes about both by supporting the body’s natural tendency to return to balance and equilibrium and also gently yet profoundly creating strength, flexibility and balance in the muscles and joints through gentle flowing movements.
