Yoga and Wellness

We have several offerings at Elite Physiques that derive from the broader definition of yoga. Many people in the United States see yoga as simply stretching. But the traditional function of yoga was to enhance an individual’s meditation practice. As yoga developed over the years, it expanded into a discipline that incorporated stretching, breathing exercises, strengthening exercises, diet, and of course, meditation, as well as other holistic health modalities. At Elite Physiques, we like to draw from some of this to offer

  • Individual yoga instruction
  • Thai yoga bodywork (massage)

Yoga Classes

All classes are 50 minutes in length. We welcome all levels of students; however it is recommended that you have some yoga experience before attending the Monday or Saturday Strength flow classes. Current class times and descriptions below.

  • Monday at 6:00pm: Strength Flow
  • Thursdays at 10:00am: Gentle Flow
  • Thursdays at 6:00pm: Beginners
  • Saturday at 9:30am: Strength Flow

Rates for classes:

  • $15 Drop in
  • $120 for a 10 class pass (expiring in 90 days)

Gentle Yoga

The goal of gentle yoga is to regain and maintain flexibility as well as to rejuvenate and heal the body. Yoga props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters, chairs, and straps may be used for safe practice, and to allow the body to fully achieve each position comfortably. This class is held at a slower pace and focuses on stretching all areas of the body while releasing stress and tension from joints and muscles.

Beginner Yoga, Hatha Style

This class is designed for beginners. Classes introduce the student to the basic principles of alignment and technique for several foundational yoga poses and sequences while slowly stretching and strengthening the body with the use of props. The emphasis will be placed on stretching the hamstrings, hips, shoulders and spine. This is also a slower placed yoga, and poses will be held in order to create strength in the lower body and the core as well as to increase flexibility.

Strength Flow

This class mixes traditional flow yoga with strength enhancing poses such as push ups, planks, twists and advanced balancing sequences. Modifications are offered and encouraged in order for anyone to adapt to the class at your own pace. Warning: you might sweat in this class!


If you love to flow from one traditional pose to the next, this class might be for you! Designed for the student that is looking for a more traditional practice or for someone that might be looking for a yoga class to add to their weekly workout schedule to ensure they are getting the benefits of stretching, balancing and strength.

Individual Yoga Instruction

We offer individual yoga instruction at Elite Physiques as well. Individual yoga instruction is a great way to get one-on-one focused attention if you are concerned about or looking for help with any of the following:

  • A recent injury
  • Stress
  • Desire a mindfulness practice
  • Very tight muscles
  • Personal development
  • Spiritual development
  • Meditation

Lisa Chorey, Yoga Class Instructor

Lisa Chorey: After years of searching for some kind of exercise that I would look forward to each week I found Yoga. Starting slowly each week learning to adapt to different styles and teachers and most importantly learning to be still. After 20 years in the restaurant industry, I needed to learn how to relax!

My journey started with my Personal Trainer, Carla at Elite Physiques. Beyond teaching me the basics of exercise, she worked with me to learn some basic Yoga poses. Then I found a local teacher that I really liked as well as a class in a big box gym that fit my needs.

Yoga has allowed me to be able to enjoy stillness, and to slow down instead of seeing it as a weakness. Fun fact, 10 years ago I could not get onto an airplane without a complete meltdown and full blown panic attack. Now, I enjoy flying wherever that plane will take me so that I can enjoy discovering beautiful places as well as being able to fly across the country to see family and friends! I attribute this to Yoga.

In my classes, I foster an atmosphere where you can be comfortable no matter your experience. Each class is sequenced so that you will have time to sit peacefully, move and breathe energetically and then relax and clear your mind in final relaxation. And we always have fun!
