Well not exactly “healthy” but people think they are healthy foods. I do nutrition coaching and I am never surprised when a clients tell me they “eat good” mostly organic and then I look at their food list. The media does a good job tricking us into eating foods that are bad for us and telling us they’re good for us. Here is a list of 5 Healthy Foods You Should Never Eat!
1) Butter – most butter in a tub, margarine, and fake butter
Here are 5 healthy foods you should never eat that people think are good for them.Number one on The list of the 5 Healthy Foods You Should Never Eat is the following types of butter, most butter in a tub, margarine, and fake butter. Below is a list to help you make better choices with buying butter and if you are vegan, the Food Babe says ” If you are vegan, skip all the “butter like” or fake butter spreads like Smart Balance that contains GMO oils, artificial ingredients made from petroleum and unnecessary preservatives. You can read more about butter on the Food Babes Blog.

2. Conventional meat
Number two is Conventional meat. It is very important to know where your meat comes from and what’s in it. You are what you eat, so if you’re eating conventional meat (non-organic) you are probably eating GMO’s (from the animals food), hormones and pesticides. I get mine from a local farmers market, Flying J Farms. Check out his video to learn more about why to buy grass fed.
3. Soy Protein
Three on the list is Soy Protein. At least soy that is unfermented. Most soy products are sprayed with a GMO that everyone knows of, Roundup. By the way never use Roundup on your lawn or anywhere. On the Weston A. Price website, you can read about, the dangers, the making, and marketing of soy products. You can also check out this post, about the danger of eating unfermented soy, from Huffpost Healthy Living.
4. Microwave popcorn
Number four is Microwave popcorn. Fox news Insider says, “The smell that first hits you when you open a bag of popcorn is perhaps one of the most satisfying, but it may be harmful to your health. Dr. Oz explained that the smell is actually a chemical called diacetyl, a synthetic butter flavoring added to the product.People who work in the factories developed a problem called “popcorn lung” from inhaling the gases with the diacetyl in it. Dr. Oz said even people who make it frequently can develop lung problems. Another problem is PFOA, a chemical that lines the bag. Dr. Oz said that 20 percent of this chemical in our bodies comes from microwave popcorn. It can cause thyroid issues, high cholesterol, and bladder cancer.

5. Vegetable oils.
Vegetable oil was not part of our diet until the 20th century. Most vegetable oil is chemically processed in order to taste good and most if not all have GMO’s. The biggest problem is they can cause free radicals damage, which causes inflammation and aging in our bodies.
I use extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil. Check out Annes Healthy Kitchen for more information on these bad oils.
Anne says on her blog that “Our consumption of polyunsaturated fats should not exceed 4%-5% of total calories consumed. 5% is the official dietary limit set by France; the U.S. purposefully don’t set any limit and consumers are confused. And 4% is what has been observed in native populations in both temperate and tropical regions.

What do you think about these 5 “Healthy” Foods You Should Never Eat! Is there any that you are eating now but won’t eat again? I hope you have learned something about the bad foods out there.
Stay healthy,

That was really interesting – I’m failing in a lot of them but the reminder to lift my game never hurts!
One step at a time. Most important is learning and knowing why not to eat these foods. Thanks for reading!
Oh Sherry, this is such good advice. I love your graphics, they are so helpful. I am an advocate of everything you say, and I do get so frustrated with people who think because they buy ‘organic’ they are healthy. My biggest downfall here is the meat and I just found a local butcher, so that and the farmer’s market are my new friends. Thanks for the great info and keep up the good work!
PS Please don’t read my blog about how much I hate kale! HAHHAHHAHAHA!
Hi Cathy, I do remember that kale post…. I’m glad you found a good source of meat, that is the worst of the 5 in my opinion. Thank you and stay healthy!
When I found out how easy it was to make my own butter I stopped buying it! I control not just the “milk” but the amount of salt and can leave out everything else!
Sherry, how do you feel about coconut oil instead of vegetable oil? Such mixed messages! Thank you for the great information!
Your welcome Ruth! I use coconut oil for everything. You can also use it at higher temperatures. I will have to do a post on coconut oil. You go girl, making your own butter! Thanks for reading!
Interesting about the butter. I thought some of them, like Land of Lakes, would have been in the organic category. I use extra virgin olive oil too and also grapeseed oil if I’m cooking with high heat.

Uh oh… I just ate popcorn this afternoon. Gah! And I thought I was doing well by eating that and not noshing on the Cheetos calling my name.
Looks like I have lots of changes to make in my menus. Thank you for the info!
Lisa, you can still eat it if it’s organic and put it in a paper bag. It really does taste good. One change one day at a time. Thanks for reading!
Hi!
Are you even kidding me. I LOVE microwave popcorn! I agree with the smell– amazing.
Janice
Janice,I love that smell also. You can still eat it if it’s organic and put it in a paper bag.
Amazing how the things we’re told are healthy for us turn out to be unhealthy. When I think of all the microwave popcorn I’ve eaten …
I know! We have to know the nutrition of everything that goes into our mouth. Thanks for reading!
