According to Environmental Defense, if every American would go Vegetarian for at least one day a week, maybe skip one meal of chicken per week and substituted vegetarian food instead, the carbon dioxide savings would be the same as taking more than half a million cars off of U.S. roads. In a 2006 report from the United Nations, they said raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined.
Pollution of our waterways is caused by hormones, antibiotics, and animal waste. These things severely harm our rivers and streams ecosystems. So if we can make a difference by just eating vegetarian one day a week it is worth it. Just think of how much a difference two days a week would make.
Don’t get me wrong, I eat for my metabolic type and I am a
strong protein type. I am not a vegetarian but I do try to eat “meat free meals” a couple days a week, however, I always include fat, carbs, and protein, with every meal.
To help get you started here is a vegetarian recipe. I had lunch with a good friend a couple of weeks ago. She made, vegetarian Stuffed Poblano Peppers, they looked and tasted great.
